SNAP X LACMA
For a class project, I designed an AR feature for Snapchat to be piloted at a museum. Not only could this feature boost user engagement but also business engagement through a new ad product.
ROLE + TEAM
I think AR technology is really cool, and I wanted a design opportunity to showcase that. I completed this project as the sole designer from conceptualization to prototyping in InVision Studio.
RESEARCH + PLANNING
I went about this project from a product focused mindset and tried to think of ways Snapchat could generally boost AR engagement and user interest through this product.
I designed a storyboard to illustrate this feature's capability in an educational sense.
Middle schoolers at King Middle School prefer Snapchat over any other social media platform.
King Middle School is planning a field trip to LACMA for its students
LACMA has partnered with Snapchat to offer a custom AR experience.
The students love engaging with LACMA’s exhibit by using technology they’re famiilair with.
Before wireframing, I thought about how this feature would natively integrate into Snapchat. I decided to leverage Snapcodes as an immediate way to access the exhibit and also house the experience within Snapchat's lens carousel.
Following the user flow, I designed wireframes using existing Snapchat UI
I used Bitmojis as the AR centerpiece to complement another one of Snap's products. Here, the Bitmoji depicts the artist of the exhibit, so it feels like a personalized tour around the exhibit by the artist himself.
INTERACTIONS + UI
This mockup takes advantage of an existing Snapchat UI feature called a Context Card that I retrofitted for this project. This way, the exhibit further builds off existing UI and interactions, like swiping up to access a Context Card.
For the end of this project, I designed a marketing landing page for a new ad product using this technology,
This way, Snap can leverage this feature for user engagement as well as advertiser engagement.
